SL Christmas Expo Sponsor Spotlight – KraftWork

SL Christmas Expo Merchant Spotlight Interview with Nodnol Jameson of KraftWork

WE ARE DELIGHTED YOU CHOSE TO BECOME A 2016 SL CHRISTMAS EXPO SPONSOR!  WHY DID YOU CHOOSE TO GET INVOLVED WITH RELAY FOR LIFE OF SECOND LIFE AND THE EXPO?
We have been aware of the amazing work of Relay For Life in SL for some time through our good friend, Sunshine Zhangsun. We saw it as a way to be part of something that is so worthy and, as well, that is such an important part of SL for one of our dearest friends.

kraftwork-nodnol-jameson WHAT ARE SOME ACTIVITIES OR THINGS YOU ARE LOOKING FORWARD TO AT THE 2016 SL CHRISTMAS EXPO & WINTER BREEDABLES FAIR?
We love music so DJ sets are always fun. As well, shopping and just generally getting to know this wonderful community of organizers.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN SL? WHEN DID YOU OPEN YOUR BUSINESS?
We just opened our brand and shop last month and the SL Christmas Expo is only our second event. We look forward though to being a part of many more to come.

WHAT PRODUCTS DO YOU CREATE?
Homes, Home furnishings, and decorative objects. And the occasional life size snow globe. 🙂

TELL US WHAT INSPIRES YOUR CREATIONS.
As we both come from an art (Oobs) and architectural background (me) in real life – modernism, mid-century design, and contemporary art is a primary inspiration. But being human we are often tugged at the heart by items that tend more to the “cozy” as you see with the fireplace set for the event.

HOW DO YOU KEEP UP WITH THE LATEST TRENDS IN SECOND LIFE?
In reality we are less about trends in that what we create is from our heart and the pieces we would want to own ourselves. Design for us is a personal experience and “trends” tend to cloud the path of making the things we really love and are original.

WHAT IS YOUR MOST FAVORITE ITEM YOU HAVE EVER CREATED AND WHY?
A minimalist piece called Marfa Corner Chair and inspired by the late contemporary artist, Donald Judd. While I enjoy designing everything, minimal is a real passion. Also, this was my first ever work I released in SL and as such it is sentimental for me.

DO YOU HAVE AN IN WORLD STORE?  DO YOU MAINTAIN A PRESENCE ON THE SL MARKETPLACE?
Yes, our main store is open at the KraftWork sim and all items are also available on Marketplace.

IS THERE ANY ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE TO A PERSON WHO IS STARTING OUT IN YOUR CHOSEN CAREER?
Love what you do. This is a labor of love first. If a certain success comes it is a pleasant bonus. If not, you are still rewarded with the joy of design and creation that is the real underlying motivation.

AS YOU KNOW WE ARE ALWAYS GROWING AND LEARNING. IS THERE ANY ONE THING YOU WOULD LIKE TO TAKE THE TIME TO LEARN MORE ABOUT (SL or RL) AND WHY?
We are interested in the many machinima creators out there in SL and the amazing and artistic work they are releasing from a 3D standpoint.. Pepa Cometa and Kanjena Sweetleaf are two that come to mind. They are doing the most inspired machinima and we would love to eventually work with them on designing and making custom sets that would be – at the start – for their work and later offered to the public.

IF YOU COULD HAVE DINNER WITH THREE FAMOUS PEOPLE FROM HISTORY, WHO WOULD THEY BE AND WHY?
Mies van der Rohe to talk about architecture. Charles and Ray Eames…what they did for design in the 20th century is beyond comprehension. I want to know more about what inspired them to think out of the box like they did. Finally, Walt Disney, such a visionary and his balance of creativity and project management is inspiring.

WHAT ONE WORD WOULD YOUR FRIENDS USE TO DESCRIBE YOU?
“Herself”

TELL US ABOUT YOUR SHOP AT THE EXPO.  ARE YOU OFFERING ANY EXCLUSIVES AND IF SO, WHAT ARE THEY ?
Yes, the fireplace set called Kozy Christmas is the first. I adore Christmas so this came from the heart in expressing my love of the holidays. It is less minimal and modern than most of my designs but has a hint of it in the decorations. It’s what I would love in my home in rl. Also, for fun, we created a life size snow globe (is there anything more wintry?) that fulfills every person’s little fantasy of wanting to climb inside. With this you can and dance and snuggle with your SL friend or romantic interest.

WHAT IS SOMETHING WE CAN LOOK FORWARD TO IN 2017 FROM KraftWork ?
As a rl architect I am going to next year really dedicate myself to also doing homes and buildings. Also, we have many ideas for fun gacha and I am excited to do themed sets and release our first one in 2017.
